Different tasks need different tools. This also holds true with online learning. Some programs might need a specific tool that is not useful to other programs. The most common tool being used by online students is social media; nearly all online students, to connect with their teachers and classmates and share information, are using this platform. Social media provides features that make the online class experience the same or close to real life classes. Many social media sites also make learning easier by providing extra educational materials such as videos, blogs, and audio clips. Students can use websites, such as Facebook, to create a topic thread where they can discuss about the topic using the comment box. Social media tools are usually free, which means that students do not have to worry about staying connected.

Offline programs such as the whole Microsoft office lineup are also important of online students. They will need this to create documents, set up presentations, write papers, and complete their assignments. The Adobe lineup also offers many useful tools. The Adobe reader helps students open e-books and other digital reading materials. For students who are under a program that deals with creating layouts, drawing and animation, tools like

Adobe Photoshop and Flash maker helps them create their projects and layouts. There are also Apps that students download which can help them with their specific course. Apps for medicine, engineering, English grammar, psychology and more can be found for free or for an affordable price.

Most online learning programs need some kind of management system. This system is used to manage, deliver and organize the students’ progress, materials and the entire educational process. These programs are used to handle and distribute coursework, educational records and allow the student to work with fellow classmates on projects and assignments. They are also used for editing, adding, inducing and making contents that students are able to access and use for their classes. These management systems are usually provided by the schools as part of the package, but some can be bought or even downloaded for free.

Because of the fast-paced development of online and offline tools, online learning is becoming more and more effective. These tools have made online classes more popular and accessible to aspiring students.
